Abbotside Events have made a speciality of cooking hog roasts ever since we started in 2006. Our testimonials and feedback from events where we have provided hog roast catering, back up our firm belief that we can provide possibly the best hog roast you will ever taste.

As with all of our catering, it starts with sourcing the very best quality pig from our butcher and treating it with the utmost respect, part of this being a very long, slow cook at low temperatures. Most of our hog roasts are cooked overnight and for periods around 15-20 hours, before being given 1-3 hours resting time. The result of this is the most flavoursome, succulent, fall apart pulled pork and super crispy crackling, which is then complemented by a Bramley apple & cider sauce made in house by our chefs, stuffing, and perhaps the most important part – an amazing, fresh-baked quality soft bread roll from our local bakers.

Hog roast catering is a very flexible option, and whilst ideally suited to being served as a hot sandwich for party and event catering or wedding evening reception catering, it is equally as nice when served as a main course with potatoes and side dishes. Plus, the cooking juices make the best gravy you could wish for, to accompany your hog roast.

We have a variety of suggested hog roast catering options, but as with all of our services we are flexible and can tailor to suit. Should you want to hire a machine for a DIY hog roast, we can do that and provide all necessary tuition and assistance.

DIY hog roast machine hire

  • Hire of a CE and Gas Safe approved and checked hog roast machine, with propane provided

  • Hog roast machine hire includes tuition and instruction booklet

  • Hire is for a 3-day period, to be collected from and returned to our base by hirer

  • If you require, we can organise provision of a pig for roasting

Spit Roast Meats

We have a variety of cooking appliances at our disposal; from 6 burner gas ovens, to sous vide machines, to combination steam ovens - but there is something very special about the way in which our rotisserie spits cook joints of meat and chickens, that cannot be replicated in other appliances. A large beef joint seasoned and coated in Raydale Honey & Beer Mustard, cooked on the spit, is so succulent and comes out with an amazing all-round glaze.

Spit roasted chickens that we brine and marinate for 24 hours in lemon, thyme and garlic, work especially well and smell amazing as they cook. Other meats such as gammon or turkey work equally well. All provide a variety of catering options from table carved presentation joints for a wedding menu, to hot chicken sandwiches for a 21st birthday party.
