FAQs

Wedding and event catering, and event planning in general, can seem a little daunting. But we are here to support you every step of the way. We’ve put together a handy list of questions that our customers ask us on a regular basis, but if you have any other burning questions, want some advice, or just a friendly ear to put any worries to rest, feel free to contact Abbotside Events and we’ll be happy to help!

We have a number of vegetarian guests are you able to cater for them?

Yes, no problem. We would never want anybody to feel left out; there are some vegetarian suggestions on our dietary page

We have some guests with allergies, is that ok?

Yes, we take our responsibilities regarding allergens very seriously and provided that we know beforehand, we can cater for guests with allergies. On the day of your event our staff will be able to advise guests on ingredients used and potential allergens.

If there are left overs from the hog roast, do you leave them for us?

Yes, any leftover food is yours if you should it. Please ask our chefs beforehand; it helps if you have containers, and our staff will advise on the best food hygiene practice in terms of temperature control.

Where do you get your meat from?

We have a fantastic local butcher (N Hammond, Bainbridge) who provides virtually all of our meat. If not, we source directly from local farmers.

Can you project manage our whole event?

Yes, we have a fantastic team of event managers who are more than happy to take the weight off your shoulders and project manage weddings, parties and functions.

What are your terms of payment?

For large events over £3000 we charge a 15% deposit, 35% interim payment due 3 weeks before the event, and final balance 7 days before. For events under £3000 we charge a 25% deposit, and the balance is due 7 days before.

What is your Food Hygiene Rating?

We’re proud of our 5 star rating, which can be verified on the FSA website. Food Hygiene Rating website

Can you provide copies of your public liability insurance?

Yes, please ask us and we’ll happily send you a copy.

Are we able to taste your food?

Yes, we can provide taster dishes for you to sample. To cover some of the cost of ingredients and our chef’s time, we charge £50.

We would like to provide our own wine and fizz at our wedding, do you charge corkage?

No, we don’t believe in charging corkage at a wedding! If our staff are already there to serve canapes and a meal, then it is very little extra hassle for us to assist you in serving your drinks. Alternatively, we can provide you with a price for a drinks package if you wish.
